 Your data, in safe hands

It’s rooted deeply in our company culture to take user privacy seriously. All sensitive data is encrypted. Relevant employees who have access also need to go through extensive privacy training and sign legally binding confidential agreements. Apart from these basic protocols, we also have a team of highly skilled engineers who regularly conduct security diagnostics and system vulnerability assessments.

Safety protocols we
use to protect your privacy

De-identified and aggregated

When you upload receipts to ReceiptJar, we aggregate the receipts information with millions of other receipts. Your information is also de-identified in the process, meaning we do not use your personal information in market research.

Opt “out” by default

With ReceiptJar, information sharing is completely up to you. If you’d like to share your shopping trips with us, you can upload your receipts. If you’d like to share your online receipts, you forward it to us. Unlike some companies, we do not “opt you in by default” and collect your data without you knowing. YOU have full control over what you want to share with us.

How we use your data

ReceiptJar is owned by The U Group & Co, a market research company that provides consumer insights into market trends and competitive landscape. These insights help “fast moving consumer goods” brands understand shifting market trends and detect changing buying behaviour related to their products.

Information we collect

What we collect

We collect your shopping receipts, including offline and online, and aggregate the data with millions of other receipts. Once the information is aggregated, it can tell us insights such as:

  • Do people aged 18-25 living in San Francisco prefer to shop in Safeway or Whole Foods?

  • What are the demographics of shoppers who buy my products?

  • Are shoppers “loyal” to my brands?

What we DON’T collect

We do not collect your personal information such as name, phone number, address or anything that could be used to identify you. We don’t have systems in place to store users’ personal information, nor do we have ways to share it with external parties.
